The Augusta Invitational Rowing Regatta was back at Langley Pond on March 11th for the first time in 9 years. Teams from across the southeast competed on the 2000 meter, fully buoyed race course in perfect weather conditions throughout the day. Aiken County and the Augusta Rowing club hosted approximately 200 middle and high school student athletes in the event, which received a lot praise from mostly first time visitors to Aiken County’s rowing venue.
This was the first 2000 meter regatta on Langley Pond in almost a decade, and the participants and rowing officials were really pleased with the new park and rowing venue. It was also the first time we were able to use the Langley Pond Finish Line Tower, which is a unique facility designated for rowing officials. The finish line tower, rowing docks, course, and other venue amenities make Langley Pond Park an attractive location for event coordinators and for large regattas in the future.
Langley Pond Park will host its next regatta June 24th – 25th when USRowing returns with the 2023 Masters Southeast Regional Regatta.
